A decision on whether or not to lease Broome County lands for natural gas drilling could be delayed.
The legislature was supposed to consider the offer Thursday, but Inflection Energy has pushed back their deadline from the end of the month to Dec. 17. Company executives say they are not sure if legislators are ready to make a decision. They spent about two hours talking Wednesday, trying to assure them that the lease will not harm the county.
The offer would be worth more than $7.8 million up front and a guaranteed 20 percent in royalties on any gas collected.
Broome County Legislative Chair Dan Reynolds says he would still like to see the offer go up for a vote at the meeting, which begins at 5pm on the sixth floor of the county office building.
