A portion of Interstate 81 North near the state border was closed for a few hours Tuesday after a tractor-trailer crash.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office says a tractor-trailer collided with a pickup truck between the Pennsylvania line and the Gateway rest stop in Conklin just after 5:30am.
Deputies say the driver of the 18-wheeler was trying to avoid the spinning pickup truck but struck it in the driver’s side. The trailer was left blocking both lanes of traffic.
The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries.
The highway reopened around 8:30am.
Ice was also blamed for a van losing control and flipping into the median on I-81 North. The driver was unharmed.
