Endicott Interconnect announced layoffs on Friday.
Both hourly and salaried employees were given notices, according to the company’s human resources department. The cuts are part of a company-wide re-organization plan.
Workers that remain at EI will be entered into the state’s Shared Work program, meaning that the employees will stay on the payroll instead of drawing full unemployment.
EI says they hope the use the program only until January. Over 1,300 people work for the company in Endicott.
EI officials blame delayed government contracts for the re-organization.
