Elmira Police Chief Scott Drake will retire next month.
After 23 years on the force, including the last six as top cop for the city, Drake says it’s time to move on.
The chief will step down on January 7th, leaving Deputy Chief Michael Robertson to take his spot on an interim basis.
The 45-year-old Drake says he plans to spend more time with his family and isn’t ruling out a return to law enforcement in the future.
As chief, he says his two biggest accomplishments were developing a police academy and implementing a dedicated phone line for anonymous police tips.
