Retiring Elmira Police Chief Scott Drake was brought to tears Tuesday night as he walked out of City Hall for the last time.
50 of the city’s police officers and support staff were lined up for one last salute to their chief while his family waited for him at the end of the line.
Drake says the honor rendered him speechless. He joined the police department in 1988 and became chief in 2005.
