A standoff ended peacefully in Elmira on Saturday night.
It started when state police were called to a domestic incident on Monkey Run Road. When the first troopers arrived on scene, they found a man who had barricaded himself inside the house. His estranged wife and a few children were also inside.
State Police brought in hostage negotiators, who were able to establish a dialogue with the man and end the situation peacefully, according to a press release.
The man was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital for an evaluation. There is no word yet on if any charges will be filed.
