Tioga students Emily and Jaxon Bidwell were on the WEBO Morning Show today to talk about their efforts to grow 350 pounds of produce for local food pantries last year. The 10 and 6-year-old grew the vegetables with the help of mom and dad and grants from Katie’s Krops. The two are growing more produce this year at home, at the Catholic Charities in Nichols, and at the Town of Tioga Community Garden. Emily and Jaxon are also taking part in a special “Tiger Farm” at the Tioga School District.
“It’s where we’re growing over 700 pounds of seed potatoes and we planted corn yesterday,” Emily told WEBO.
The potatoes and corn will be harvested in the fall and used in school lunches next year. You can hear the full interview below.
