The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of four people after $2,000 worth of heroin was found in a Southport apartment. Wednesday night, deputies made four arrests following a six-month investigation into drug sales at the apartment. Once inside the apartment, officers found heroin and marijuana. Two tenants, 44-year-old William Veruto and 31-year-old Rebecca Rice were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance for heroin possession, along with a violation for the marijuana.
Two men also in the apartment, 23-year-old Justin Pagan and 33-year-old Robert Ruiz, both of the Bronx, were found to be in possession of heroin.
Ruiz was sent to the Chemung County jail without bail, while the other three were sent to the jail on $2,000 bail. The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Elmira Drug Enforcement Unit.
