Four Dead in Herkimer & Mohawk Shootings

The New York State Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred shortly after 9:30 AM this morning in the Villages of Herkimer and Mohawk.
The investigation has revealed the following timeline:
At 9:29 am, the Herkimer County 911 center received a call of a residential fire at 32 South Washington Street.
At 9:33 am, the 911 center received multiple calls of shots fired at John’s Barber Shop located at 17 Main Street in the Village of Mohawk.
At 9:38 am, 911 received a shots fired call at Gaffy’s Jiffy Lube located at 320 Mohawk Street in the Village of Herkimer.
John’s Barber Shop – 4 victims
· Harry M. Montgomery, age 68, from 3 South Washington in the Village of Mohawk was pronounced deceased at the scene.
· Michael G. Rancier, age 57, from 114 Melrose in the Village of Herkimer was pronounced deceased at the scene.
· John Seymour, owner of Barber Shop is listed in critical condition at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Utica, NY
· Dan Haslauer, customer at barber shop, is listed in critical condition from gun shot wounds at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Utica.
Gaffy’s Jiffy Lube – 2 victims
Thomas Stefka, employee at Gaffy’s, was pronounced deceased at the scene
Michael L. Renshaw, a 20 year veteran of NYS Corrections, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect, Kurt R. Myers, age 64, from 32 South Washington Street is believed to be in a building on 248 North Main Street in Herkimer, NY . State Police have closed off the area, as they continue the search for Myers. More information to follow as it becomes available.
