Groundbreaking marks progress on building the Southern Tier High-Tech Incubator in downtown Binghamton. A excavator was on site yesterday to launch the construction of the $19 million, 35,000 square foot building at the corner of Hawley and Carroll Streets. The high tech incubator is a partnership between Binghamton University and SUNY Broome to expand research and foster the growth of ideas from students and the community. The incubator will house up to 15 different start-up companies and will be three stories tall. The first two floors will be for businesses and the top floor exclusively for students. Five businesses have been approved for the incubator and are already enrolled in the Start-Up New York program. The incubator is slated to open September 2016.
