If you’re travelling by car this holiday weekend, remember New York State Police and local law enforcement will increase road patrols to keep local highways safe by cracking down on drunken or impaired drivers. It’s called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and it runs through New Year’s Day. You can expect sobriety checkpoints anytime, anywhere in the Southern Tier.
Law enforcement will also be on the lookout for seatbelt law violations, distracted drivers and drivers in violation of the “Move Over Law.” Drivers are required to use “extreme” caution while passing police and emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
