Pennsylvanian environmental officials are saying that this year’s heat and low river flows are affecting the quality of water in the Susquehanna River. A report by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection cites the entire length of the Susquehanna River as being impaired for fish consumption and a portion of the river unfit for recreation. In addition, the report says that over 1,600 miles of Susquehanna River tributaries are also impaired.
New York’s Department of Environment Conservation has not commented on the DEP’s findings and if conditions may be similar in New York.
