The Johnson City School District is looking at dozens of job cuts and deductions to its extracurricular activities.
The district is trying to close a $1.4 million budget gap and in order to do so, the superintendent says they are looking at 44 personnel cuts coming from all areas, including administration, teachers and other staff members.
Also on the table is a nine percent cut to the athletics department and the elimination of all freshmen sports teams. A similar cut could also be made to the music department.
Superintendent Mary Kay Frys says the district is dipping into its reserve funds, but there are a number of restrictions on how that money can be used and it is not available for overall expenses.
