Jury selection began Monday in the trial of an Elmira man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend back in December.
Arteamus Wells is charged with murder in the death of Erin Jade Smith, 19. Prosecutors say Wells stabbed and choked her to death in her Hathorn Court Apartment. Smith was pregnant with another man’s baby at the time.
Prosecutors say that Wells confessed to the crime and a judge ruled that the confession can be used in the trial.
