Local Lockheed Martin employees and their families spent a few hours Saturday stuffing more than 10,000 care packages for soldiers.
Over 150 people volunteered to stuff the packages at Lockheed’s Hidden Valley Warehouse in Apalachin as part of Operation USO Care Package.
Each two-pound package contains requested items like sunscreen, travel size toiletries, snacks and a personal message of support from the donor. Female care packages include manicure sets, hair bands, scented hair products and a cosmetic bag.
Operation USO Care Package has distributed more than 1.9 million care packages since the program began in 2003.
