The Montral Gazette is reporting that the United Arab Emirates will soon finalize a $7 billion deal to buy an advanced missile defence system from Lockheed Martin.
The UAE has been negotiating the acquisition since late 2008.
The deal was negotiated between the U.S. and the UAE governments directly.
The United States government is expected to send a letter of agreement in the next few months, after which the UAE could start negotiations with contractors on production schedules.
