A man has confessed to killing his pregnant girlfriend in Elmira.
35-year-old Arteamus Wells told police that he stabbed 19-year-old Erin Smith Monday morning in her Hathorn Court apartment.
The Georgia native told police he strangled Smith, stabbed her with scissors and wrapped an electrical cord around her neck.
Wells was allegedly living with the woman, who was around five months pregnant.
He was arraigned on a charge of second-degree murder and taken to the Chemung County Jail without bail.
