Oneonta Mayor Richard Miller died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday morning, according to Otsego County Coroner James Hurley. He was 70 years old. He was found sitting in a chair in his garage. Oneonta emergency crews were called to the mayor’s home after a family member found him and dialed 911. When EMTs arrived on scene, they determined the mayor was unresponsive and that’s when both Oneonta Police and the coroner were called. Miller was in his second term as mayor, having been re-elected in 2013.
