Authorities arrested a local woman and a Texas man at the Elmira airport on Thursday after the two were caught trying to smuggle in methamphetamine from Texas.
Police say 39-year-old Stacey Foust of Towanda was planning on selling the drugs locally. She was taken into custody at the Elmira-Corning Regional Airport along with 49-year-old David McAlpin. Police were waiting for the two as soon as they came off their plane.
The Department of Homeland Security tipped off the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office about the two.
Both Foust and McAlpin are now facing charges for criminal possession of a controlled substance.
