A federal judge has ruled that a lawsuit against New York State’s ban of professional mixed-martial arts bouts will be allowed to move forward. U.S. District Court Judge Kimba Wood ruled that the Ultimate Fighting Championship can move forward with the lawsuit as long as it can prove the state’s ban is unconstitutionally vague. The UFC first filed the suit against New York in November of 2011, claiming that the ban violates a fighter’s First Amendment right to free expression. The lead plaintiff in the suit is Light Heavyweight Champion and Endicott-native Jon “Bones” Jones.
