Oneonta Police say the woman who was murdered over the weekend was killed by a blow to the head.
26-year-old Sonya Ridge was found dead in the residence of 27-year-old William Sprague early Sunday morning.
Sprague is now facing murder charges. Police believe the man was trying to rape Ridge when he killed her, according to documents from the investigation that have been filed with the court.
Friends of both Ridge and Sprague told our partners – Your News Now – that the two knew each other but were not romantically involved.
Sprague is currently being held without bail at the Otsego County Jail. He will be in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
