The New York State Department of Labor issued its monthly Employment report on Thursday.
Tioga County’s unemployment rate declined to 8.0% from the December 2009 rate of 8.8%.
There were 21,600 people employed with 2100 looking for work.
Broome County had an unemployment rate of 8.7% in December, a slight uptick from 8.5% a year ago.
87,700 people were employed with 8,300 unemployed.
The overall US unemployment rate is 9.1% with New York State at 8.0%.
