New York State has announced it will be splitting $40 million among the state’s 64 counties to help clean up roadways following this year’s harsh winter. The winter called for eight state of emergencies being declared by Governor Cuomo in the past six months alone. Cuomo announced the funding on Thursday, and hundreds of thousands of dollars will be coming to counties in the Southern Tier. $332,000 will be given to Tioga County, $640,000 to Broome County, and over $932,000 to Chemung County. The money can be used for current or future projects according to the state.
