Every August for the past two years, Cortland has become home to the New York Jets training camp and for businesses, Gang Green means another kind of green. The Jets training camp brought 41,000 visitors and $6 million into Cortland last year. That’s up 36 percent over 2009. Now that the NFL has imposed a lockout, businesses are concerned what effect it could have on Cortland.
The team signed a three year contract with SUNY Cortland last year so business were expecting steady income over the summer. While the situation doesn’t look good now, they say there’s still hope things will be cleared up in time for camp. Business say, now, the waiting game begins.
