Nine High Priority Stream Gauges Receive Long Term Funding

Some stream gauges in the Southern Tier will be receiving long-term funding. Nine high-priority stream gauges, seven of which are in the Southern Tier, will be receiving funding after facing a shut-off deadline of October 1st. The U.S. Geological Survey was able to work with funding partners to find long-term solutions for funding. The gauges are located in the Owego Creek in Owego, the Chemung River in Elmira, along with gauges in the Susquehanna River in Owego, Binghamton, Windsor, Bainbridge, and Unadilla. Over 8,000 stream gauges across the country are used to measure water levels.
