NYS Section 4 football semi-final playoff games will be played this weekend across the Southern Tier of New York. Four schools in Tioga County are in the seeding for section titles in Class B, C and D.
Owego and first-year coach Patton Taylor take a bus ride to Windsor for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday. Both schools are 3-2 in the Class B division, but Windsor won the tiebreaker and home-field by beating, Owego, 12-7, in the regular season at Christie J. Valvo Stadium. Winner plays the winner of No. 1 seed and defending state champion Maine-Endwell vs. Norwich who play Saturday afternoon.
In Class D, No. 1 seed Tioga, defending section and state champions, plays Walton at Susquehanna Valley with kickoff at noon on Saturday. Tioga won regular season game, 55-8. Newark Valley plays No. 2 Delhi in a 3 p.m. game Saturday at Susquehanna Valley. Delhi won, 21-14, in regular season game.
Waverly goes for its second consecutive Section 4 Class C championship in a semi-final home game with Susquehanna Valley at 7 p.m Friday at Memorial Stadium. Wolverines, got a win over the Sabers, 42-12, in the regular season.
Sectional finals will be played Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11; then Central NY regional playoffs the following weekend.
