(Broome County, NY) – On Wednesday, Sept. 20, the New York State Police Traffic Incident Management Unit (TIM) in Troop ‘C’ issued a total of 25 tickets in Broome County during an “Operation Hard Hat” detail.
Troopers monitored traffic on State Route 17 in the Town of Sanford, where road crews were doing bridge work. During the detail, a trooper blended in with the workers and watched for unsafe driving behavior.
The 25 tickets issued include:
- Speeding – 9
- Seatbelt – 6
- Other – 10
Motorists are reminded to drive responsibly in work zones. Make sure to follow the posted signage and put down any distractions. Slow down, move over to another lane when it is safe to do so. Everyone working on the side of the roadway deserves to get back home safe.
