A controversial tree in the Town of Maine was cut down by New York State Electric and Gas workers Monday.
The property owner had chained herself to the 30-year-old blue spruce a few weeks ago in an effort to save the tree. NYSEG says it was a danger to power lines because it could grow over 70 feet tall.
NYSEG has agreed to plant shrubbery in its place.
