Thursday afternoon, NYSEG released a statement on the events in Horseheads on Wednesday.
A home on Joseph Street was destroyed by what appears to have been a natural gas explosion.
15 month old Benjamin Reed died in the explosion and fire.
NYSEG Said:
“The people of NYSEG join the neighborhood and community in mourning the tragic death of Ben Reed.
And our thoughts and prayers are with all of the people who were affected by this incident.
At this time, we don’t know what caused the incident.
We are committed to continuing to work with all appropriate authorities in the investigation of this incident.”
