New York State Electric and Gas says they will cut down a tree in the Town of Maine, despite the property owner’s objections.
Lidiko Mitchell chained herself to the tree earlier this month in an effort to save it from being cut down. She met with NYSEG officials Thursday. They say the tree has to come down because it is in danger of hitting nearby power lines.
The tree will be chopped down after Thanksgiving. NYSEG has offered to plant shrubs in its place.
