Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy Killed during Domestic Dispute

Oneida County Sheriff Deputy Kurt Wyman, 24, was killed at the end of a five hour standoff in Knoxville, Oneida County on Tuesday.
Police responded to a domestic dispute at about 9PM Monday.
Chris Patterson, 41, was armed with a shotgun and took cover in a garage.
A shootout occurred at about 2AM; Wyman was taken to St Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica and died of a single gunshot wound.
Deputy Wyman’s wife is pregnant with their second child. She reportedly went into labor after hearing of her husband’s death.
Patterson was shot several times and was in critical condition.
There were no other injuries.
Knoxville is about 20 miles southwest of Utica.
Deputy Wyman had been with the sheriff’s department for about four years and had served with the Marines in the Middle East.
