More than 5,000 faculty members in Pennsylvania’s state university system have officially gone on strike. The strike comes after the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and the faculty union failed to reach an agreement in contract negotiations. Approximately 100,000 students from 14 different universities are expected to be affected by the strike. The last contract between the faculty union and State System of Higher Education expired in June of last year.
