The owners of Yellow Medi-Van and Taxi inc. are facing felony charges after they knowingly operated their business without workman’s compensation insurance. The owners, 68-year-old Kenneth Cohn and 64-year-old Sharon Cohn violated both county and state laws by doing so. Broome County transportation regulations require every transportation company to have workman’s compensation insurance. In addition, New York requires every business with 5 or more employees to have the insurance as well. The Cohn’s allegedly submitted paperwork claiming that they held workman’s compensation insurance through an insurance company that didn’t offer such coverage. The defendants have since been arrested and arraigned.
