The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is investigating a blowout at a Marcellus Shale gas well site in Tioga County, PA.
The incident occurred during the hydraulic fracturing process on January 17th. The well is located in the Tioga State Forest.
21,000 gallons of fracturing fluids and sand were thrown around the site; fluids appeared to have been contained by the plastic lined well pad.
Talisman Energy regained control of the well after 3 1/2 hours.
There was no fire or explosion, and a minimal amount of gas was released.
Operations resumed at the well yesterday.
