Planning for River Revitalization

Representatives from nearly two dozen Broome County municipalities met Tuesday to start planning for a project to revitalize the area along the Susquehanna River.
The Broome County Intermunicipal Waterfront Revitalization Project will study a way for the towns and villages to apply for future grants to develop their riverfront areas into things like parks, flood control and other uses.
It could cost up to $90,000. Half of that will be covered by a state grant, with the municipalities picking up the rest of the tab.
Vestal is the lead agency for the study, which should be completed next year.
