Sayre Area Schools look at adding special education programs

SHARE NOW

Sayre Area School District officials are considering adding two new programs to their Special Education services. The addition of an elementary-level life skills classroom, and a middle and high school autistic support classroom is estimated to save the school district between $20,000 and $25,000 per year, per student. Currently, these students must attend classes in other school districts. These two proposed programs would utilize current district staff, and eliminate transportation costs. However, things like curriculums, training for staff, and materials would be additional expenditures if the programs were approved. The Sayre Area School District is currently only looking at the possibility. No decisions have been made.
