Voters across New York went to the polls yesterday to vote on school district budgets. All of the proposals in Tioga and Broome Counties were approved by voters. All district voters also approved school bus purchases and many elected new school board members. Here are the preliminary results.
TIOGA COUNTY
– Candor: Budget approved 225-75. Bus proposition also passed.
– Newark Valley: Budget passed 229-72. School bus proposition also passed. Board members Randy Kerr and Susan Watson re-elected.
– Owego-Apalachin: Budget approved 607-261. Bus and library funding propositions also approved. Board Members (top three selected): Stacey Riegel (657); Kathie Rollison (630); Dan Whippo (537), Lee Dunham (483)
– Spencer-Van Etten: Budget approved 237-101. Board of Education: Peter Johanns, Matt Connor, Don Johnson
– Tioga Central: Budget approved 282-84. Catherine Root and Aaron Lounsberry elected to the Board of Education.
– Waverly: Budget passed 427-202. Board of Education: Colleen Talada, Jennifer Vaughn, Kasey Traub, Andrew Aronstam.
BROOME COUNTY
– Binghamton: Budget approved 939-188.
– Johnson City: Budget passed 402-171. Bus proposition also passed. Richard Martinez and Nicholas Matyas re-elected to the school board.
– Maine-Endwell: Budget approved 772-174. Bus proposition also passed. Vicky Williams and Jaime Bernard elected to Board of Education.
– Union-Endicott: Budget passed 845-193. Board of Education (one seat open): Jim Truillo defeated Joe Zurine 777-254
– Vestal: Budget approved 1,042-184. Bus and library budget propositions also passed. Board members: Sylvia Place (983); Linda Daino (979); Tony Turnbull (948)
