The Broome County Legislature has officially voted in favor of bringing school resource officers back to districts that wish to have them. The school districts would be responsible for 100% of the resource officer’s salary. Broome County used to have a school resource officer program but cut it in 2009 due to the local budget crisis. An effort to reinstate the program occurred a few weeks ago when Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell released details of a plan to make the program more financially feasible.
