The principal of the Seton Catholic High School has been placed on administrative leave.
The Syracuse Diocese announced their decision in a letter to parents and staff members Tuesday.
60-year-old Kathleen Dwyer admitted last week that she was accused in April of shoplifting.
In light of the admission, the diocese says Dwyer needs to deal with her personal issues and give the local Catholic School community time to heal. They operate five schools in Broome County.
Dwyer has been the principal at Seton for over two decades. The school’s other administrators will work together to fill her position until an interim replacement is named.
