Seven people died after a collision between a tractor trailer and a minivan. Cortland County sheriff’s deputies said the tractor trailer was headed south just after 6 p.m Wednesday on Route 13 in the town of Truxton when the trailer disconnected and collided with a mini van carrying eight people headed the opposite way.
Seven of those passengers were killed. The survivor was transported to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for treatment, although the severity of their injuries was not known as of late Wednesday.
Two people were in the tractor trailer at the time, but neither were injured.
Route 13 was closed for most of the night between Crains Mills Road and West Keeney Road.
