A total of seven people are said to have fallen into the Genesee River in Letchworth State Park on Saturday. Letchworth State Park is just over two hours away from Owego in Castille, NY, and is a popular tourist attraction in the summer months.

The seven individuals are said to be a part of an extended family that was visiting the park over the weekend. Park Police say that the family strayed away from the designated trail just above the lower falls in the park when they fell in. Rescuers managed to save five of the seven individuals on Saturday. All five of those rescued were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Rescuers, however, were unable to locate two juvenile males at the time. The search continued with NYSP helicopters and divers yesterday, which led to the discovery of the body of one of the juvenile males. The other male is still missing.
