The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office has ruled the death of Chance Howey of Smithville a homicide.
Howey, 31, was found unconscious in his home on Sunday and was taken to Wilson Hospital.
He was died early Monday morning.
Autopsy results show Howey died from a brain injury consistent with being punched.
He was involved in a fight at Seeber’s Tavern on Saturday night.
The injury is consistent with being punched.
No arrests have yet been made; the investigation is continuing.
