Solar Energy is coming to the Southern Tier. Southern Tier Solar Works is an initiative of the Binghamton Regional Sustainability Coalition with a goal to create local jobs and put money in the hands of residents and businesses, all while promoting solar power in the region. Southern Tier Solar Works’ Adam Flint spoke about workshops that the group will be offering to better inform residents of the program.

Once Southern Tier Solar Works finds out how many people have committed to using solar energy, they will be working with ETM Solar Works of Endicott to purchase solar panels, and the more people to sign up and the more solar panels ordered, the lower the cost for everyone. Gay Kanoff of ETM Solar talked about how much of the total cost of electricity could be covered by solar power for residents in the area.

After the first workshop held at Tioga Downs from 7 to 9 on Tuesday, another workshop will be held on April 9th at the Hubbard Auditorium in the county office building on Main Street in Owego. For more information you can visit Southern Tier Solar Works online at southern tier solar works dot org.
