After taking snow days during the Blizzard of 2017, many local school districts will now have to change vacation days into school days after they exceeded their allotted snow days for the year. That includes Owego-Apalachin, where Friday, May 26 will now be a full day of classes for students instead of the first day of a four-day weekend. Students in Johnson City, Maine-Endwell, Union-Endicott, and Vestal will also be in session that day. In addition, U-E and M-E students will have to return from spring break one day early to attend classes April 21. State law requires schools to be in session for a total of 180 days. School districts normally plan for a maximum of four to six snow days per year.
