Homeless services across the Southern Tier will be receiving $1.6 million in funding from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. The recent award represents a 2.8% increase in current federal funding to address homelessness in our area. That increase comes as New York State funding for homeless services has dropped by over 6%, according to spokespersons with the US Department of Housing. The $1.6 million will aid homeless service programs in Broome, Otsego, Chenango, Delaware, and Cortland Counties.
