Gov. Cuomo has announced $59.2 million worth of projects that will pave and repair hundreds of miles of state roads across the Southern Tier this summer and fall. Locally, the projects will include the stretch of Route 34 from the Chemung County line to Route 96 in Spencer, 3 miles of Route 282 in Nichols from Platt Street to the PA border, and 15 miles of Route 26 from Pierce Hill Road to Main Street in Vestal and from Nanticoke Drive to Route 38B in the Town of Union. Some state highways will also be repaved, including the area between Exits 1 and 2 on I-81 and I-88. The projects are part of the region’s Southern Tier Soaring economic development plan.
