New York Gov. David Paterson is calling legislators back for a special session on Monday.
He has set a lengthy agenda for the session, including budget cuts that he hopes would help pay down a $316 million deficit. The lame-duck governor continues to maintain that work needs to be done before he leaves office at the end of the year to make way for Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo.
Other items on the agenda include approving 147 gubernatorial nominations for 2011, pay raises for state judges and a measure to rename the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel in honor of former Gov. Hugh Carey.
