A new state-of-the art unit was unveiled at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital yesterday afternoon. Doctors, nurses, Guthrie officials and more celebrated the ribbon cutting of the new Intensive Care Unit on the second floor of the hospital. The new ICU is more than double the size of the current unit. The 38,000 sq. ft. space houses 26 private patient rooms, which are each over 200 sq. ft. The new $20 million facility is designed to increase care and space. The new space will allow for a staff to patient ratio of 2:1 and is equipped with special amenities such as on-site procedure room, blood gas lab and eight of the rooms will be negative pressure for infection control. It broke ground in Oct. 2013 and finished four months ahead of schedule. The new ICU will officially open on Dec. 14
