Apalachin woman charged with vehicular assault, pedestrian seriously injured

On June 15, 2022, New York State Police at Owego arrested Candy E. Barklow, age 63 of Apalachin, NY, for the class “C” felony of Aggravated Vehicular Assault.

On June 6, 2022, at approximately 9:53 p.m., state troopers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian on Rolling Terrace in Apalachin. The 40-year-old male pedestrian was working on the front portion of his front lawn when he was struck.

When troopers arrived, Barklow was no longer on the scene. The pedestrian was evaluated by Apalachin EMS and transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City with serious injuries.

Troopers later learned that Barklow had been stopped by an pfficer from the Vestal Police Department and arrested for Driving While Intoxicated about 25 minutes after she struck the pedestrian.

On June 15, troopers arrested Barklow on the felony charge. She was transported to Tioga County Central Arraignment and Processing.
