New York State Police have stepped up their efforts to crack down on texting and driving, this time with a fleet of new vehicles. The state has given its police force 32 tall, unmarked SUVs that officers can use to peer down at drivers’ hands to see whether they are texting. New York is among 41 states that have banned texting for all drivers and is among just 12 that prohibit using hand-held cell phones while driving.
